I’m still riding the high of a successful Pi Day party on Thursday night (and hearing from so many of you that you hosted ones too – I’m thrilled!).
There are SO many good book deals going on this weekend, especially for audiobooks!
Book Deals for the Middle of March
A Million Junes by Emily Henry – audiobook
I have read A LOT of Emily Henry, but I haven’t read this fantasy YA novel by her. It’s definitely not her usual contemporary romance, but it’s read by Julia Whelan, so it must be good and people rave about it!
Mother-Daughter Murder Night by Nina Simon – audiobook
This one sounds really fun, it is described as “Gilmore Girls, but with murder” as a grandmother, mother, and daughter trio try to solve the murder next door.
The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green – audiobook
I really liked this one! Green reflects on the human experience and reviews many aspects of our existence including anything from teddy bears, Kentucky bluegrass, whispering, Diet Dr. Pepper, sunsets, and so much more. This is his first nonfiction book and I think it’s useful to go in knowing a little about John Green and his style, so if you’ve read one of his fiction books or watched him on Instagram, you’ll probably enjoy it more!
The Bright Side of Disaster by
The War that Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley – audiobook
I read this WWII middle grade novel about children who were evacuated from London to the countryside during the Blitz in 2015 and still remember it so clearly – it’s fantastic and a worthy recipient of a Newbery Honor. (Full review here). It’s also a Libro.fm deal so you can make it into a Yoto card!
Just Mercy (YA version) by Bryan Stevenson – audiobook
Just Mercy is a non-fiction account by lawyer Bryan Stevenson of one of his early cases trying to exonerate a man on Death Row, plus a look at the current state of the U.S. justice and prison systems. It’s no exaggeration to say that this book changed my life. I think it should be required reading for every person.
The Vietnam War by Geoffrey C. Ward & Ken Burns – audiobook
After finishing The Women by Kristin Hannah (which might just be my favorite book by her now), I have been very interested in learning more about the Vietnam War. This would be a fantastic nonfiction addition to really explain the history of the war.
