I’ve long been interested in money (and I’ll tell you right now that my massive money scarcity mindset is something I’ve been working through for the last decade), so of course I love a good personal finance book.
These are 7 of my favorite personal finance books!

My 7 Favorite Personal Finance Books

Die With Zero: Getting All You Can from Your Money and Your Life by Bill Perkins
I love a good money book, but this one is very different than any other money book I’ve ever read and Bart and I have been talking about it to everyone we know for the last several years. It’s been such a fascinating and useful way to think about how I spend my life and what I want out of the money I make. It feels like one of those books that almost everyone would get something out of – this is a top 10 non-fiction of all time for me.

Rich AF: The Winning Money Mindset That Will Change Your Life by Vivian Tu
This is a fantastic personal finance book! I’m always getting asked for book recommendations for people who want to understand their finances and investing better and this is my new go-to suggestion that makes money feel fun, interesting and accessible. (Heads up for some language).

Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin, Joe Dominguez, and Mr. Money Moustache
I have zero desire to live at the level that some of the people in this book are willing to live at, but the general idea that you give up time and life to earn money has stuck with me for more than a decade and I think about this book ALL the time. My parents love this book and gave us a copy when we got married.

The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko
I remember my parents reading this one when I was growing up and then Bart and I both read it shortly after we got married and it’s had a big effect on how I think about money, both earning and spending it. Bonus, it’s included in the Kindle Unlimited library, so you can read it for free!

You Need a Budget by Jesse Mecham
Someone recommended this one to me on Instagram and I immediately checked it out from the library. If budgeting feels tedious and hard, this book is for you! It shares four essentials rules to budgeting and money to help you stop living paycheck-to-paycheck and save more – it is terrific.

We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers
This one is a fun read and quite different than a lot of the money books I’ve read in the past. It’s full of practical tips, not just high level information and Rachel Rodgers, a mother of four, attorney, and self-made millionaire, shares what’s she’s learned on her own path to seven figure status, plus how she’s helped hundreds of other women do the same. I love her writing style and how she debunks lots of the bad financial advice you’ve probably heard throughout your life. And if you feel like it’s wrong to want to be a millionaire, she’ll debunk that for you too!

The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey
I know Dave Ramsey can be controversial and while I don’t agree with all of Dave Ramsey’s advice (credit card user for life over here), I do think he has some very solid advice for people trying to take control of their finances and get themselves out of debt. My parents gave us this book about 15 years ago and we found it truly helpful.

Ooh Janssen, you must read The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel! I think you would love it!!
