Hmm, well, if there is one thing I’ve realized over this Christmas trip, it’s that I’m the world’s worst vacation blogger. Whoops. Sorry.
It’s not that I don’t have about things to write, it’s that I’m too busy doing other things, like going to get manicures and pedicures (I will never call them “manis and pedis”) with my sister and my mom or watching the four hour “North and South.”
You’ve never watched “North and South,” you say? Go! Now! My father-in-law had suggested we watch it while we were in Utah, but we ran out of time, so you can imagine my surprise when, the first night we were back in Vegas, my Mom said the first disc had arrived from NetFlix. We watched the first two episodes that night and went out and bought the whole thing the next morning and finished it that evening. People, this movie is SO good. And Mr. Thornton? He is the new Mr. Darcy. (Also, I’m not going to tell you that it took us thirty minutes of the first episode to realize “hmm, perhaps this isn’t a Civil War movie”).
Anyway, vacation continues to be lovely, although I’m pretty excited to go home, sleep in my own bed, cook again, and get ready to start school. Also, I’m hoping to work on a lot of house projects this year (painting! again! vomit!).
P.S. For Jenny A, the sushi restaurant we love is up in Park City and it’s called “The Flying Sumo.”
Happy to hear that you have found North & South – it is one of our favorites!
I can’t believe that you two are still partying it up. Lucky dogs.
And an immense thank you to you for the wonderful compliment. You have made my year.
Lucy misses her “daddy”. He needs to come home soon or she might have to move on to her real one.
I am terrible about blogging on vaca too. Welcome home!
LOVE North and South! Such a good movie. I also like Wives and Daughters. The same author wrote both North and South and Wives and Daughters and thankfully, both have been made into movies. AND Mr. Thorton is also on the BBC’s Robin Hood – he plays the villian – but he’s still fun to watch.
Speaking of awesome movies, thanks for recommending What’s Up, Doc. Brilliant.
I just discovered North and South through my sister! She got it for Christmas. Unfortunately, we had to leave before finishing it so I haven’t seen the whole thing yet but so far I love it! Richard Armitage is yummy!
Happy New Year and glad to hear you have been having a good holiday vacation. We’ve missed you though!
I was wondering if you remember the name of the little French restaurant you went to in D.C.? My sister-in-law is in D.C. right now and is contemplating various restaurants. The picture you took of the dessert just looked so yummy that I’m assuming the rest of the food is also very good!
Thanks for the name of the restaurant! I’m still thinking about that dessert picture :o)
You don’t like painting?
I heard about North and South over a year ago and have wanted to see it ever since; unfortunately, none of the video stores I’ve checked with carry it. I guess I’ll just have to save my pennies and buy it from Amazon.
FYI the new iTV versions of Persuasion, Mansfield Park, and Northanger Abbey have recently come out on DVD. I’m saving up for those too.
So when are you EVER coming back? I won’t tell you that we made another serious purchase over the holidays. Ok, I will. We had to go back to the roots and figure out how it all started…it was like watching Back to the Future II before I so we opened the old pocket book and bought the original Ticket to Ride. I am also not going to tell you how disgusted I am with the price of the dang thing either. Please come home soon! I keep forgetting when, but I remember that you left weeks ago so its got to be soon, right?! Call us as soon as you get back…our weekends just haven’t been the same!
I googled North and South and several things came up. Is it new or done in 1985? I’d like to check it out.
Argh…painting! That’s my least favorite house activity!
Hi Janssen!! It was really good to finally meet you to! Hopefully Jens and I will make over your way sometime soon, or you will make it back here, so we can do more together! Well, I hope your holidays were wonderful!
Look back. Look back at me.
Muero de amor….
