We’re home! (for more than 24 hours now, but this isn’t a real-time blog). I slept in my own lovely bed last night. It was 69 degrees in our house without the heater on. But I miss my mom. So, you know, life can’t be perfect.
Yesterday, we picked up our mail (buckets of it). We unpacked, made a menu, went grocery shopping, and saw “Dan in Real Life” at the dollar theater (fifty cent night, friends). Bart and I both loved it. So funny, so clean, so totally enjoyable. Anyway, favorite movie of 2008, so far (excluding North and South because it’s a few years old). Go!
Today, I went to Orientation for grad school, which was awesome, and I shall discuss it more later, when I have actually registered for classes. I came home and Bart had cleaned out the shed in the backyard (he put the old ceiling fans out for the garbage man, but someone came and picked them up – rats! We should have put them on Craigslist!). And we took down all the Christmas decorations and put our house back together. I rejoice!
And now for pictures of my two favorite Christmas gifts:
From Bart’s parents (which they thoughtfully mailed to our house so we wouldn’t have to lug it home and which Ralphie came over, took off our front porch, and put safely inside the house): A red Dutch Oven! And it matches our kitchen!
And from my parents: Pottery Barn Linen Jewelry board. I told Bart I would probably need another for my birthday. Or maybe Valentine’s Day. I love it!
Wow. I don’t even own a necklace, let alone many necklaces that would necessitate an entire rack. Wow. We are so glad you are home safe! Welcome back. The dogs and I enjoyed patrolling your home periodically.
See if you can catch the quote in that comment, and if you can don’t judge me for having watched the movie 🙂
I am completely envious of both of these gifts! We registered for a Dutch oven, but didn’t receive it, and I can’t bring myself to spend the bucks to get one. And, I guess I should be more specific in that I am jealous of your jewelry selection. I only started realizing that jewelry was kind of important in the last year, so now I have accumulated all of three necklaces and four pairs of dangly earrings. Am I too picky?
Your mama misses you too! Here’s to Disneyland in February 🙂
I love the jewelry board and Dutch oven! And the jewelry, too.
What a lovely dutch oven! My husband and I bought one years ago (French Blue) and have never regretted it. I love the way you can go from stove top to oven with it.
How exciting that you are starting your grad program! I wish you well with your MLS (or do they call it MLIS at your Univ?) program. I’ve found it to be a very versatile degree and enjoy working in that field.
Oooh, that dutch oven is beautiful! Such a lovely shade of red.
I am totally swooning over those things!!
Look at all your great necklaces! I’m so jealous, I am in need of a jewelry box of some sort. But I think that’s going to have to wait for a while!
Wow, what a haul! Good luck with school starting.
