All About Kindle Ads and How to Get Them Removed
If you’ve been around here for awhile, you will regularly hear me gushing about my Kindle. I love it so much!
And when you talk about a Kindle as much as I do, questions come flooding in about everything Kindle related.
One of the most common questions?
“Tell me about the Kindle ads!”

Personally, the Kindle ads don’t bother me at all.
They’re on the lock screen so they’re not popping up while I’m reading and I think they’re extremely non-intrusive.
I think lots of people are imagining ads showing up when they’re reading, really “in-your-face” kinds of ads, or constant closing of ads while you try to use your Kindle.
Kindle ads aren’t like this at all!
When your Kindle is locked, the lock screen will display a static ad for a book. As soon as you open your Kindle, that ad disappears.
So my personal recommendation is to buy a Kindle with ads and get a better deal and then if you decide you hate them, you can pay to have them removed later.
I used to recommend buying a kids Kindle for adults because it was less expensive than an adult Kindle and there were no ads on it!
However, Amazon caught on to this little hack, and now there’s no ads only if you’re in a kids profile. If you exit out into an adult profile, you will see Kindle ads.
If you are still in the hate Kindle ads camp, you can pay to get them removed from your Kindle. This is how you do it.
First, login to your Amazon account.
Second, if you are on a desktop go to this page to get started. Click on “Manage Your Content and Devices.” If you are on the Amazon app, click into your account and follow the same instructions below, starting with select “devices.”

Select “Devices” and then select the device you want to remove the Kindle ads from.

Scroll down a bit and you will see “Special Offers.” Click “Remove Offers.”

A pop up window will appear showing you the price you will need to pay to remove the Kindle ads. Mine was a one time $20 fee. Click “End Offers and Pay the Fee” to have your credit card on file charged.

And that’s it! You are free from Kindle ads forever!
