I Didn’t Know I Needed Leather Leggings

I’ve never really been a gigantic fan of leggings. I think they are riiiiiiight there on the edge of frumpy, and generally my policy has been to stay away from them.

But then I saw a pair of $8 leather leggings at Forever 21, and I thought, ” . . . I could be convinced.”

And then I tried them on and I was.

I think the leather gives them enough edge to keep them from being frumpy, and they are stretchy enough that I’m hopeful I can wear them through at least a good chunk of this pregnancy. And if not, well, I’ll just go buy a pair in the next size up. If I can swing $8.

I also love that they can be dressed up and down (we’re leaving this weekend for Europe, so I’m really thinking about packing stuff that’s as versatile as possible).

I like it dressed down for doing my regular day kind of stuff with the girls. Any excuse to wear tennis shoes without looking like I’m going to the gym is thumbs up in my book.

But they also dress up easily too. I paired them with some neutral heels and this tunic from eShakti.

I have (possibly insane) dreams of wearing them on a date with Bart to see some fun show in London.

Also, when I was wearing this outfit, Ella said, “You look like you’re in a wedding.” I didn’t dare ask if she thought I was the bride or the groom.

P.S. You can see more of eShakti on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

  1. Those will be right on point for London this fall! I just picked up a leather skirt at a market and am fairly itching for the weather to change enough to merit wearing it (acknowledging that I'll begin complaining of the chill directly afterwards).

  2. I didn't think I'd ever say this about leather leggings, but those look super cute. And, did I miss something? You're pregnant?! Congratulations!

  3. Oh man, now I need some too! And for 8 dollars a little fashion risk won't hurt anybody! I love the white top, how cute!!

  4. Cute but they look so hot to wear. Reminds me of an episode of Friends when Ross wears something similar and can't get them off, haha. But you look very cute in them.

  5. I found a pair of jeggings when I was pregnant with Felix at H&M that were real denim. They were such a good find because I am not a fan of maternity panels (weird, I know). I spent most of that pregnancy in nice, thick leggings, and I was so happy. It's nice to feel like at least one part of your body is skinny.

  6. They do look cute! Aren't they super hot? (I'm sure you've gathered by now with my comments over time that i don't do hot ha!) And yes, the only time I wear leggings is when I'm frumpy. Or in the winter when I'm pregnant.
