How to Wear Neon Pink

Notice I didn’t say “and not look like a highlighter.”

Maybe I do look like a highlighter. I don’t ask questions I don’t want to hear the answers to.

After all my talk about taking Bart’s advice about clothing, I completely ignored it on this shirt. He saw a picture of it on the website and immediately said, “Looks like a grandma shirt to me.”

Too bad. I did shorten the sleeves on this one (much like I did on this shirt), but it didn’t need it like that shirt did. It just isn’t long sleeve weather yet and I really wanted to be able to wear this shirt immediately (I am a paragon of patience here). It’s a pretty great shirt – I love the pinking on the shoulders and I really love the buttons up the back.

And then, to prove to myself that I could wear a neon pink shirt with more than just dark jeans (I finally used my certificate for a free pair of Gap jeans that I won from doing the 31 for 31 challenge back in May), I spent a little time coming up with other ways to wear it. And. . .what do you know. I actually own a lot of things that go well with neon pink.

A versatile grandma shirt if there ever was one.

Shirt: c/o Choies // Jeans: Gap // Shoes: Payless
Belt: Target // Earrings: Claire’s // Bracelet: Claire’s (gift from Landen)
The other outfits? Here you go:

I started out easy – a little metallic belt to break up all that pink.

Jeans: Gap // Shoes: Payless
Belt:  Forever 21 // Earrings: Claire’s

Then, much less timid, with this pencil skirt (which I love so much. But size up. Seriously).

Skirt: c/o SheInside // Shoes: Payless

And with my white jeans (Merrick promises me that white jeans aren’t just for summer). Plus any excuse I have to wear these shoes, which get compliments from every single person I see, even old men at the grocery store, is an excuse I’ll take. (I’m a fan of the shirt knot too).

Jeans: H&M // Shoes: Gift from my mom years ago

Hello, eighties. In a good way, I think. I bought these pants as a birthday present to myself (with a gift card), and I really love them. As I do pretty much any pair of pants from Forever 21.

Jeans: Forever 21 //  Jacket: Old Navy // Shoes: Old Navy

And, then, a nice gloomy gray skirt to contrast with the “HELLO I AM SO HAPPY” pink top. And polka dot shoes because. . . well, when aren’t polka dot shoes a good idea?

Skirt: Downeast Basics // Belt:  from a different dress
Shoes: DSW // Earrings: Claire’s

  1. Look at you looking so fabulous! I am never sad when you do outfit posts… This one might be my favorite! Love that top on you (and if it's a grandma shirt then that's one stylish grandma!)

  2. I love the bright pink! I would totally wear that color all the time. I'm still rocking my white jeans too!

  3. I don't think anything that bright can be a grandma shirt but I have heard similar words come out of my husbands mouth. Another favorite of his, is hello 80's. I love the pencil skirt combo!

  4. Love it with the skirt especially! I can't wear neon pink up top because of my red hair/pale complexion. It just doesn't look right. I love it on you though!
