What We Are Actually Getting the Girls for Christmas
Eleven years ago, I did my very first “What we’re ACTUALLY giving our girls for Christmas” post!
It’s now such a staple on Everyday Reading that the moment the calendar turns to November, people start sending me messages asking me when it is coming out!
And here it is!
This post is also super useful personally to me because it forces Bart and me to sit down and make decisions about what gifts we’re going to get for our girls.
As the girls get older, it gets a little harder to find just the right gifts for them (fewer squishmallows now!) but I think everyone will have a great Christmas.
Here’s what they’ll be finding under the tree and in their stockings this holiday season!

For Ella (age 15.5)

Clog slippers
These are WILDLY popular and I snagged these on an early Black Friday deal – I think Ella will love these. I keep getting asked if they’re for indoors or outdoors and the good news is you can go either way!

Cashmere Sweater
On Tally’s wishlist, she asked for “Supper soft cashmere something” (I assume she meant “super,” not “supper”). Well, she’s in luck because we got a cashmere sweater for each of the girls this year for Christmas!

Necklace
Ella has gotten more into jewelry in the past year and we thought she’d enjoy a classic piece of jewelry she can wear all the time!

Pickleball Shoes
Ella is on the varsity pickleball team and playing and practicing nonstop, so we knew she’d love a pair of court shoes that offer more support than a pair of running shoes!
For Ani (age 13)

Clog Slippers
I got Ani a pair of these same clog slippers (in a different color) and while I think Ella will love them, I think Ani will REALLY love them because she’s the queen of cozy things!

Cashmere Sweater
And a cashmere sweater for you!

Shokz
Last year, we got Ella a pair of Shokz for Christmas and she’s loved them so much that Ani asked for a pair too! She joined a community track team this year, so she’s running a lot and these are safer for running because you can hear traffic better while you listen!

Light Board
This was one of the fun things Ani put on her Christmas wishlist and I think she’ll be delighted to find it under the tree!
For Star (almost 11)

Cashmere Sweater
You get a cashmere sweater and you get a cashmere sweater and you get a cashmere sweater!

Remote Control Car
This was on Star’s Christmas wishlist and I’m already imagining Christmas morning with this zipping all over the house. It’s a big deal to Bart that there is a fair amount of FUN involved in Christmas gifts and this one will definitely hit the mark!

American Girl Doll
Star loves playing with our American Girl collection (we have so much clothing and furniture from my childhood!) and she specifically asked for a new doll so she can play multiple characters. The year I got my American Girl (Addy!) was probably the most memorable Christmas morning of my life.

American Doll Camper
This was one of the things Star asked for and and it’s a perfect fit to go along with the little doll Jeep we got her a year or two ago. I snagged this on a crazy deal for almost half price!
For Tally (Almost 9)

LEGO Grocery Store Set
On her wishlist, Tally said “A grocery store lego set {please get me this because if you get me anything on this list please give me this}” so. . . here it comes!

Cashmere Sweater
And one last cashmere sweater for the road!

Remote Control Car
Tally added one to her Christmas list so we’ll get her one in a different color. It’s going to be race car heaven around here come December 25th!

Karaoke Set
We’ve done karaoke a few times as a family and my girls LOVE it. I knew the moment I saw this set that it would be a huge hit (and when I shared it online, so many families said they had it and loved it!)
Family Gifts

Flip7
I always like to gift my girls a game at Christmas that we can play in the weeks ahead of Christmas break plus all winter long. This one is under $10 and has killer reviews (and when I asked about it on Instagram, I got a flood of gushy messages about how much people liked it!)
Framing Paris portraits
When we went to Paris more than two years ago, we had portraits drawn of all four girls Montmarte and they’re still rolled up in my office closet. They’ve been asking for two years when we were going to frame and hang them and this Christmas we’re finally getting that taken care of!
And here’s what we’re putting in their stockings:

Needoh Cubes
My girls are obsessed with these and they’ll all be thrilled to find one of them in their stocking on Christmas morning!

Pencil Cases
I think these will be especially popular for their church bags or travel backpacks to be able to corral all their pens and pencils and markers in one handy place!

Sunglasses
Several of my girls asked for sunglasses for Christmas and I’m definitely not interested in spending a fortune on kid sunglasses, so I got an affordable pair for each stocking!

Leather Heart Bookmarks
These have been SO popular and I bought a set so I could put one in each stocking (they’re super affordable!)

3D House Sticker Scene
These were on the $5 gift guide this year and I bought them so quickly. My girls are going to flip over these!

Keeper of the Lost Cities water bottle stickers
My girls are all wildly into Keeper of the Lost Cities and so when I saw this pack of water bottle stickers, I knew it’d be a hit to divide among their stockings!

Candy
Our girls always want some peppermint bark and Ghirardelli’s chocolate in their stockings.

Pringles
This is a longstanding tradition from Bart’s family that we’ve carried on in our family! A single serve pack or two for everyone, plus a little Gatorade.
And if you’re interested, you can see all the previous years’ with what we gave them here!

Thank you! I look forward to this list each year. It really is super helpful.
