Book Deals for the Weekend of April 18
I can’t believe we’ve been home for more than a week (and I’m still waking up at 6 a.m. every morning). In case you missed it, here’s my post about our France itinerary.
I’ve been reading up a storm the last week since we got home in preparation for the Summer Reading Guide and I’m hoping to spend a lot of time reading this weekend!
Here are some of my favorite book deals going on right now:

The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion (Vol. 1 – Vol. 5) by Beth Brower
I can’t believe the first 5 books are on sale for under $3! If you’ve been around for awhile, you know I love this series! I had read the entire series twice before these came out on audio and I was so excited to try out the audio version – wait until you hear all the voices the narrator does! And if you struggled getting into the physical books, I’m telling you the audiobook really helps.

Divergent by Veronica Roth
This dystopian novel was at the top of all the charts when it came out a decade ago and it’s still a fun read and listen for adults and teens!

Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
This audible original is a must to add to your list. You might have seen Trevor Noah on The Daily Show, but his life began as a crime. He was the son of a multiracial marriage which during South Africa apartheid was illegal. This witty and honest memoir is the perfect book to add to any book club and it’s one of those books that everyone mentions when they talk about books that are made 100x better by the audio version (naturally, it’s read by the author).

Scythe by Neal Schusterman
When I asked my Instagram community for their favorite books for teen boys – this was the most popular by far! I think this one has such an interesting premise. Set in a future world where death has been conquered, people called Scythes are the only ones authorized to end lives in order to maintain population control. I haven’t read this one but it’s been on my list for ages!
Elantris by Brandon Sanderson
I have some HUGE Brandon Sanderson fans in my household (my husband and my girls). This is his debut novel and has everything you would love from a Brandon Sanderson book – strong heroes/heroine, high fantasy and magic, and an incredibly crafted world that comes to life as you read.

Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins
I wasn’t sure what to expect after The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (which I couldn’t get through), but this Haymitch prequel completely hooked me and reminded me of the grip the original trilogy had on me! Set during the 50th Hunger Games, this is the story of Haymitch as a contender in the Hunger Games 24 years before Katniss volunteers as Tribute. This one is INTENSE and the audio made me feel like I was watching a movie. My 15 year old loved it too.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
This was one I meant to read for years and didn’t get around to until it was the only audiobook I had when I was doing hours and hours of driving every week down to my elementary school libraries in Boston. And I completely got the hype. (Full review here).
