All about My Puzzle Board
I started getting into puzzles in 2020 (like many people!) and since then I’ve done hundreds of puzzles!
For years, readers would ask if I had a puzzle board and I always said it seemed kind of pointless to me.
And then, a few years ago, a puzzle board was on sale and on a whim, I ordered it.
And boy had I been wrong about a puzzle board!
I went from a skeptic to a true believer over night!
I love being able to work on a puzzle without worrying if I’d finish it in before we needed our dining table back or being able to move my in-progress puzzle to the back deck when the weather was nice or downstairs when we were hanging out in the basement as a family.
Plus the drawers are so nice for sorting puzzle pieces (I’m a puzzler that has to flip over every piece before I start!). I do prefer a puzzle board with four drawers instead of six because six drawers means you can’t lean the board against a wall or couch easily and the drawers tend to fall out when you move it!
And then, a year or two later, I got a puzzle board that tilts up and that REALLY changed the game. It is so much easier on my neck and back to have the board tilted up.
The puzzle board I have has a slightly grippy texture so the pieces don’t fall off when it’s tilted at an angle, but it’s still smooth enough that you can slide the pieces around on it.
(I also tried and liked this super lightweight puzzle board! I especially liked that the drawers clicked into place so they don’t fall out when you’re moving the board!)
Here are a few of the questions I get most frequently about my puzzle board:
What size of puzzle board should I get?
I would absolutely get a 1500 piece puzzle board. I never do puzzles this big, but the moment I opened my first puzzle board which was a 1000 piece size, I knew it was going to be too small for some of my 1000 piece puzzles (like White Mountain puzzles which tend to run large!). I love the extra space for spreading out pieces and working on sections, plus it makes it possible to do a Magic Puzzle on my puzzle board!
If you frequently do 1500, I’d get a 2000 piece board for sure!
Where do you store your puzzle board?
I keep my puzzle board under the couch when it’s not in use – it just slides easily under (it doesn’t need much clearance at all) and it’s easy to grab when I’m ready to puzzle!
Have you ever considered a puzzle table?
If I had room for one, I absolutely would get a puzzle table! They look amazing! For now, a puzzle board is the best solution for me in this house.
