4 September Favorites (+ My Team’s Picks)
I can’t believe September is almost over! It’s always my favorite month both because of my birthday and also because I love welcoming in autumn and the gateway to the holiday season.
Here are some things I’m really loving this month:
Pony Pick
A friend gave me these over the summer and I’m hooked! They make it so easy to get tiny elastics out of my girls’ hair and after more than a decade of wrestling out tiny rubber bands (and often making my girls cry in the process), the Pony Pick is magical. I’ll never go back!
30 Minute Korean Beef and Avocado Rice Rolls
This recipe has been on repeat this summer. Bart and I both love it so much and so do all the girls (minus Tally who basically just eats a tortilla with plain rice in it). It’s super quick and absolutely delicious – in fact, I’m eating it as leftover while I write this!
Halloween Tea Towels
I got hooked on Geometry kitchen towels last year and I ordered a few Halloween ones this year for a little extra fun in my kitchen. I LOVE them – they delight me every single time I see them. My code is JANSSEN15.
Trench coat
I bought this on thredUp in the spring and wore it a ton on our Japan trip. Now that we’re getting back to a bit cooler weather, it’s back in the rotation and I love it so much. It’s a classic for a reason!

Catrice Under Eye Brightener Instant Awake
I’ve had dark circles under my eyes for forever and they only got worse with kids, but now that they are all sleeping through the night I don’t really have anything to blame it on but genetics. I tried that Tarte Shape Tape and it didn’t work for my skin type. I looked slightly electrocuted with it on! I decided to try out this under eye brightener even though I was skeptical about the light pink shade, but it works so well and looks so natural! Plus it’s only $6!!

A Small Light
My husband and I do not watch a lot of TV, but after seeing a trailer for this show on Disney+, we added it to our list. It follows Miep Gies, the secretary of Otto Frank, as she risks her life to hide Anne Frank and her family from the Nazis, in the Secret Annex during WWII. This National Geographic limited series is so incredibly well done and exemplifies true human courage and bravery. It is also absolutely heartbreaking, so have tissues on-hand. (You can also stream it on Hulu.)

I stayed at an AirBNB last month that had stainless steel drinking cups and I liked them so much that after I got home I scoured the internet for something similar. Most of my plastic kid cups have gotten cracked, lost or just gross over the past couple of years but I wasn’t that excited about buying more plastic cups. These steel cups seemed like the perfect solution. I love that we can all use the same drinking cups at dinner without being afraid of one meeting an untimely demise if it gets clumsily bumped to the tile kitchen floor. I decided to get these gold brushed cups because they will match my gold flatware.
