I just requested The Art of Racing in the Rain from the library. It was sitting on the bookshelf right next to a book that I bought as a gift. How'd you like it?
We had this book on CD, and loved it so much, we sent it to VA to my MIL, and it got stolen right out of the package! Must be it is SO good…

Ah, your mom is good. I'm addicted to Dave Ramsey's radio show (too bad it doesn't come on until 10 pm) and have a feeling you already do most of the stuff he suggests. I think you'll like him (when that book wins, of course).
This is a good book. Actually, I just heard the author speak last night. He has a new book out, continuing where this one left off. So, so inspiring.
Gordon just bought this book, and I can't wait to read it. Apparently the author spoke at BYU recently, and he was a huge hit. I heard him for about 10 minutes on the Diane Rehm show yesterday, and I can't wait to read that book. Like Kayla, I also am proud of you for reading an adult book. 🙂
I think that you will enjoy this book. I didn't love the writing, but the story/message itself is so important.

This is kind of a tough read. Bottom line, though, is that he made me realize how winning in Afghanistan, Pakistan, that whole area of the world requires much much more than military efforts. I kind of don't think you'll enjoy reading it.

The writing on this is dry but his message and his life are so great. I know I've told you how I feel about supporting non-profs, but his is one I'd absolutely contribute to, and I think what is important is his own beliefs about the value of helping people in simple, realistic ways. https://www.ikat.org/ The idea of community-based education versus American-instated education is really what "hooks" me, so to speak.
The Help is super-duper and P, P, and Zombies is a hoot!

The writing of this one is fairly awful, but the story is so amazing that I can forgive it. I hope you'll like it!
Three cups of tea is an incredible story. There are a lot of good reads on that long list!! I;m happy to say I've read at least five of them and soon will be reading The art of racing in the rain for January book club meeting.
