Raiding My Sister’s Closet: Lush Meadow

One of the things I’ve tried to be better about this past year is picking new items of clothing that reflect current trends while still fitting into my basic wardrobe structure (I’ve been reading The Curated Closet over the last couple of weeks, which I’ve found quite helpful).

When we picked one of Pantone’s Fall 2016 colors for this round of Raiding My Sister’s Closet, I knew that I LIKED Lush Meadow, but it wasn’t a color I particularly needed tons of in my closet.

So I started keeping an eye out for a piece that incorporated that color, but wasn’t overwhelmingly green.

And this top was perfect. Blue is one of my favorite colors to wear and darker florals are huge right now, plus it incorporated some of that Lush Meadow green.

I’ve worn this top at least once a week since it arrived last month and it’s been the perfect combo with these ankle-zip leggings that I’ve been wearing non-stop. They aren’t maternity, so I’ll be able to wear them post-pregnancy, and they’re a super high-quality knit and the gold zippers make them look less yoga and more actual pair of pants. What more could you ask for?

I love that the darker colors and longer sleeve and pant length make this outfit feel more fall-ish, even if it’s still hitting the 80s every day (and even though I’m carrying around a tiny space heater at all times to make sure that, even if it does drop into chilly temperatures, I’ll still be ridiculously warm).

  1. I love everything about this and I really want that top, but Karen Walker sunglasses?! Don't get me wrong – I love them! But I was hoping, as a fellow lover of deals, that the link would take me to a site that sells cheap knockoffs!

    1. They're actually from my Dittos subscription – you can rent designer sunglasses and swap them out as often as you want. You can try it for a month for free with the code EVERYDAYREADING. Because I'm not quite ready to buy a pair of $300 sunglasses either.

  2. That top is gorgeous! Totally something I want in my closet… now to scour the internet looking for the exact same piece… and then buy it when our "no spend November" is over.
