HOT DEAL: Coding robot for almost 50% off!

Last year, during the holidays, I shared about this coding robot and it was the #1 most asked for link – I got HUNDREDS and hundreds of messages for months asking about it.

It’s a really clever toy that’s perfect for teaching beginning coding skills and it’s great for ages about 5-10 (Bonus for being screen-free).

I’m rarely blown away by a toy, but it’s SO fun – our whole family has absolutely loved it and it’s still beloved a year later.

The retail price is $84.99, but I just found it today for $39.99 (for reference, Amazon had it as a daily deal today and it was $58.99 for that flash deal!)

This is THE lowest price I’ve ever seen it for!

  1. Hi, I bought the Botley from Walmart when you posted this a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, they sent Coding Critters instead. I called customer service who sent out a replacement right away. Super unfortunate, they sent Coding Critters again. When I called the second time, they said they were out of Botley (even though their website still has it available for purchase). And more frustrating, I couldn’t even return them in store because my received item and purchased items did not match. So more time spent with customer service! I’m sure many people actually got the deal early on but in case others are still teeing up to get this as they are shopping, they should beware that Walmart may not have the inventory to support the demands.
Thanks so much for all you do! All the deals you find! And all the great book recommendations!!!

    1. Tonight is the first night of Chanukah and the Coding Robot was intended to be a family gift for the kids to open tonight. After the box arrived from Learning Resources, I put it away, still in the outer packaging to avoid a spoiled surprise. My mistake, as when I just opened the box to wrap the gift, I found that I have the same issue as the earlier commentor. We also received Coding Critters. BUMMER!

      1. Update: I reached out to Wal-Mart to correct the error and Wal-Mart repeatedly stated they could only offer me a return and refund (but I really wanted the Botley!). The manufacturer, Learning Resources, made things right though. They generously shipped me the Botley 2.0, which I had originally ordered, and told me to keep the Coding Critter that was shipped by mistake. When I asked if they were sure, the Learning Resources representative said, “yes, you can give to a child in need.” I really appreciate that sentiment and am happy to do so.
