If I Don’t Laugh, I’ll Cry: How Death, Debt, and Comedy Led to a Life of Faith, Farming, and Forgetting What I Came into This Room For by Molly Stillman – audiobook
I just picked up a copy of this a few days ago and was delighted to see the audiobook on sale! Her mother wrote a memoir about being a nurse in Vietnam, and when she passed left a large inheritance to Molly. After Molly blew all the money and found herself in major credit card debt – she turned to comedy to find solace and healing. She not only talks about her past, but also her life meeting her husband and homesteading on her farm, all while making you laugh your head off.
The Longest Letsgoboy by Derick Wilder – audiobook
This gentle book follows a girl and her dog through the dog’s last day of life. Told by the dog himself, on his last walk on the earth, he beautifully describes all he sees, feels and smells. This book is so well done would be a great way to open up a dialogue after the loss of a beloved pet. (I just included it in January on my book list of picture books about death and loss).
