August Weekend Book Deals

After all the wedding festivities of last weekend and then lots of fun adventures with my parents and my sister and her family earlier this week, it’s feeling a little quiet around here (although with all the back to school mania, not THAT quiet).

Here are some of my favorite book deals this weekend:

August Weekend Book Deals

Noodleheads Lucky Day by Tedd Arnold, Martha Hamilton, and Mitch Weiss – ebook
If you have an early graphic novel lover, this book is a hoot (there are seven books in the series currently and they all pretty much stand alone – no need to read them in order).

I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith – ebook

My mom read this book more than a decade ago and then passed it along to me – it’s not my normal fare but I loved it!

The Strange Case of Origami Yoda by Tom AnglebergerThe Strange Case of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger – audiobook
I read this when it first came out and I was working as an elementary school librarian. I knew immediately it would be a hit with my students and I’m pretty sure it never touched the shelf again for the rest of the year! The series starts out with Dwight, a sixth-grade oddball who loves origami. And when he makes an Origami Yoda finger puppet, it suddenly starts to seem that this little paper Yoda can predict the future and give great advice. How could this be!? The next book in the series, Darth Paper Strikes Back, is also on sale for $3.99!

The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox – ebook
I picked this for my Book of the Month Club book last year (when December and Christmas break roll around, I want all the holiday romances, please and thank you). And an identical twin swapping plot line? How could I resist. The reviews aren’t amazing, but to be honest, I didn’t even care – it was a fun, quick holiday read.

Princess Cora and the Crocodile by Laura Amy SchlitzPrincess Cora and the Crocodile by Laura Amy Schlitz – audiobook
Ani and I read this together and got a huge giggle out of this tale of a crocodile and a princess who switch places. It’s a perfect beginning chapter book (the audiobook run time is about 40 minutes long) if you want to try audiobooks for young kids! Plus, you can make it into a Yoto card
