My Favorite Adult Coloring Books

I love a good coloring book and adult coloring books have become wildly popular over the past several years.

If you’re looking to pick up a colored pencil or marker and go to town, here are some of my favorite adult coloring books (but they’re equally great for tweens and teens too – these are huge hits in my house!).

Monochrome Coloring Books
I shared about these in December when I picked one up for myself, and it’s unlike any coloring book I’ve ever tried. You use just one color and watch the picture come to life. It’s incredibly low-stress! No deciding which shade to use for flower petals or what green the tree should be. It’s become such a relaxing, fun way for me to unwind.

Cocowyo Coloring Books
My girls are obsessed with these and so am I! We pull them out frequently during read aloud time. There are so many fun options and scenes, it’s hard to not get sucked in. Ani had a December hot tubbing birthday party this year and we gave out these Christmas ones for party favors and they were a huge hit! Can’t recommend them enough.

Lifelines Flowart
After buying several of these for our house, I can confirm they’re so much fun! They’re similar to diamond art, but without the tiny pieces, and I love that each set includes everything you need, making them perfect for easy, grab-and-go entertainment on trips.

Qwerkles
These adult coloring books are SO spectacular and unlike any other. When you open the book, it all just looks like a bunch of blobs, but as you start coloring, an animal image emerges like magic. These activity books have gotten SO much use in our house over the past few years.

Reverse Coloring Books
If you like outlining your artwork, this is definitely something you should check out. With fully colored pages – often soft washes of watercolor or abstract shapes – you add the lines. Your job is to imagine what the colors could become and draw details, shapes, patterns, or scenes on top of them.

Colored Pencils
We own so many sets of these colored pencils – all my girls have them and love them. They’re super affordable with a soft core that’s perfect for coloring and drawing. (I always keep a stash in my gift closet and pair them with drawing books for an easy, foolproof gift.)

Watercolor Markers
I know alcohol markers are all the rage, but my girls prefer watercolor markers (and they don’t have the bad smell that lots of alcohol markers have. They color beautifully!

Alcohol Based Markers
If you haven’t tried alcohol-based markers yet, this brand is the gold standard. And the case this set comes in is so nice, no digging around to find colors, everything is organized and easy to grab.
