A Puzzle a Month – 500 Piece Edition

Recently, a reader reached out on Instagram and told me she wanted to do a “puzzle of the month” gift for her dad for the holidays.

Instantly, I was obsessed with this idea and quickly set to work choosing puzzles for each month of the year.

This is an ideal gift for a parent or grandparent or in-law!

(Or for yourself! I would be thrilled with this!)

I’ve matched the puzzles to the seasons and I hope you’ll find this list of puzzles as fun as I did!

P.S. These are all 500 piece puzzles, but you can find 1000 piece puzzle recommendations if that is more up your alley.

JANUARY

snowy slopes puzzle

Snowy Slopes
This puzzle brings together two things I love – Pippi Post and skiing! I may be newer to skiing, but I’m definitely not new to puzzles, and this one is so much fun.

FEBRUARY

Galison Blooming Streets

Galison Blooming Streets Puzzle
My mom has this jigsaw puzzle and I loved doing it when I visited her a couple of years – it’s just an absolute delight with such a pretty design and because it’s 500 pieces, rather than 1000, the similar colors doesn’t make it as challenging. If you like this New York in Spring look, this puzzle is another great option.

MARCH

Galison Artisanal Eggs
I love decorating for Easter and decorating eggs, but I know my eggs will never look this egg-travagent! I could stare at these intricately designed eggs all day and be free from cleaning up all the mess that comes from dying eggs.

APRIL

Puzzle Folk Oopsie Daisy!
PuzzleFolk puzzles are such a fun brand. They have such vibrant colors and they’re an absolutely delight. You cannot go wrong with some beautiful flowers to bring in the spring months! Use my affiliate code JANSSEN.

MAY

Kaleido-Beetles Puzzle
I can’t say I am a huge fan of bugs and creepy crawlies, but this cute puzzle filled with colorful beetles mimicking a kaleidoscope design – I am 100% okay with!

JUNE

Beside the Sea
This was the kick-off to my summer puzzling a few years ago and every time I see this puzzle box, it makes me smile to remember that perfect early summer evening.

JULY

Here’s the Scoop
What is more summery than a bunch of ice cream? This puzzle is a July delight with all of the pastel colors, different patterns and unique ice cream concoctions!

AUGUST

Summer at the Amusement Park
This 500 piece puzzle just screams summer (despite the fact I’ve never been to Coney Island!). I loved this one!

SEPTEMBER

Sweater Weather
I don’t think there is a Spaghetti Tree puzzle that I haven’t enjoyed doing – use my code is EVERYDAYREADING15 for a discount. This one is filled with all the things that get you excited for fall, without being too Halloween or pumpkin forward.

OCTOBER

Ghostly Gathering
This one went crazy when I shared it on Instagram and for good reason. Adorable little ghosts gathering together to enjoy everything that makes fall so delightful. It’s definitely a Halloween puzzle, but is nothing but cute!

NOVEMBER

Shrooms in Bloom Puzzle
I took this puzzle on our Chicago anniversary trip this a couple of falls ago and when Bart was down at the pool, I had the best time working on it in our hotel room while I listened to an audiobook and watched the sun go down over the city. (A 500 piece puzzle is usually my choice for a trip puzzle because I know I’ll be able to finish it before the trip is over).

DECEMBER

Festive Furballs
I don’t even really like animals and I couldn’t help but smile at the cuteness of these festive little furballs all dressed up for the holidays! My sister gave me this one and my kids and I love doing it every year!

By the way, if shopping from Amazon only makes more sense for your life right now, I put together a list of 12 500 piece puzzles for each month to make it easy for you!
