Skewered
Last night, we stopped at some friends of ours to drop off some cookies. We stood inside and chatted with them and their boys (5 and 3) for a few minutes and then opened the door to leave. The older boy dashed outside and the younger one shouted after him “Come back! We have a planet to save.” I think that’s my favorite line for the week.
We rented and watched “Casino Royale” this weekend, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I’ve never seen a James Bond movie before, but I’ve been wanting to see this one since I saw the previews for it months ago, and I wasn’t disappointed. I’ve read a number of reviews (from both critics and regular folks) that complained about the length of the poker game, but it didn’t seem at all long to me. I was actually surprised when it was over – what, already? And, not that I have any other Bonds to compare him to, but WOW did I think Daniel Craig was an awesome James Bond. I really hope they make another one with him. I especially loved this little exchange:
Dryden: How did he die?
James Bond: Your contact? Not well.
Dryden : Made you feel it, did he? Well, you needn’t worry. The second is…
James Bond: [Bond shoots Dryden] Yes… considerably.
and, when he returns to the poker table after nearly being poisoned:
James Bond: Sorry. That last round nearly killed me.
Bart, I think, was pretty pained, though, when that gorgeous Aston Martin flipped and crashed. Such is life. And movies.
