Soooooo Sleepy

The Daylight Savings Time thing hasn’t really bothered me – it’s cozy to come home in the evening with the sun setting. I like having the sun coming up earlier in the day so I’m not getting ready in the dark.

But today, the daylight thing has really be throwing me off.

We got up early and drove down to San Antonio. We met up with Brian and Ralphie and their lovely two daughters at Sea World and spent the afternoon watching dolphin shows, a 3-D pirate movie, and riding some rollercoasters. Thoroughly delightful.

But less delightful was leaving the park at 5:30 and then making almost the whole trip in the dark. By the time we got home it felt like it was midnight, rather than not even 8:00 p.m. I feel so tired, even though I shouldn’t.

Is it wrong to go to bed at 9:00 p.m. on a weekend? Is that what gets you the “old married person” title? Because, frankly, I’m tired enough not to care about such titles if it means 12 or 13 blissfull hours of sleep.

(Also delightful? Getting a second trip out of our Sea World passes. . . .it would have been unfortunate not to have used them a second time when we paid for a season pass).

UPDATE: Instead of going to bed, we watched two episodes of 24. We’re still cool!

  1. I’m with you. I kind of like the early darkness, at least when I am comfortably at home. Andrew and I went on a delightful evening walk in the dark yesterday. (It was only about 5:30 p.m.) We came back feeling so wonderful that I think we should make it a regular practice.

  2. Revel in your “old married person” status. All of those (single) people out late and trying to be cool and hip are really secretly looking for mr or mrs right so they too can be married and stay in and get 12 hours of sleep and stop worrying about being cool and hip!

Good reason to stay up late though — 24 :o)

  3. For the record, I pretty routinely crash at 9:30 on weekends. I’m old, boring, married, and pregnant. And I’m ok with that. I NEED that sleep!

  4. We totally go to bed super early. I always say I’m an old lady now. I used to stay up until midnight at least when I was single. My how times change. 🙂

  5. Ha, Terri B said it perfectly! The whole getting dark early thing messes with my head too, so you’re not the only one 🙂
