Raiding My Sister’s Closet: A Current Closet Favorite

On Sunday afternoon, instead of waving goodbye to Bart as he headed back down Arizona for the week, the girls and I packed up our stuff and went with him.

We found a little house to rent for the next six weeks, and we’re all settled in (the beauty of moving into a furnished house – we bought some groceries and unpacked our suitcases, and we’re totally set).

Of course, we’re all missing my parents a lot (who else will roll up their suit pants and swing the girls back and forth in the pool before dinner?). Spending six straight weeks with them was just really fantastic.

This dress was one perk of staying with my parents. After Merrick did a tutorial about this dress (which she actually made AT my parents’ house, so my mom had watched her do the whole thing), my mom whipped me up one too.

I wore it at Alt Summit in June and then to a couple of parties at ALA the next weekend.

It also was great for wearing to Target yesterday to pick up some toilet paper and soap.

Dress: Target (altered according to Merrick’s tutorial) // Shoes: Old Navy (similar) // Bag: c/o Lily Jade

  3. That dress is lovely. Are you not a seamstress? I also think I need to make this dress. Thanks for linking the tutorial.

Second question, since you won't be in Las Vegas still when the husband and I go to Black Hat at the beginning of August, would you do a 'Whirlwind Weekend' post for the area? I'd love any recommendations you might have since I won't be the one working and conferencing the whole time.

or would you please email me a quick list if you can't do a post (jennlbfit at gmail). 🙂

  4. I owned this dress in navy and pink. And when I saw your sister's tutorial, I loved this dress so much that I went out and bought the white and black one in a larger size to follow her tutorial. I love the dress and have worn each several times already. Great outfit!

  5. I loved this dress when I saw Merrick's tutorial, and I'm still loving it now! I should try and make one, it would probably be super cute as a maternity dress!

  6. I'm just impressed that you can wear anything with long sleeves here in Arizona! I'm dying with anything but shorts and t shirts 🙂
