Picture Day

One of the “perks” of working in the public school system – one which I had not anticipated – is the complimentary school pictures they take of the teachers.

I have seven wallet size pictures now, with absolutely no plans of what to do with them. I joked with one of the other teachers that I might write “Stay cool! Have a great summer!” on the backs of them and pass them around to the other teachers.

I mean, what do adults do with wallet size pictures of themselves?

Especially when those pictures make them look about fifteen. I cannot look at these pictures without giggling – I mean, really. This is such a stereotypical school picture, I can hardly believe it.

  1. Very cute.

I just requested you as a friend on GoodReads so when you see someone named Courtney asking to be your friend that is me–I thought it would let me say that when I made the request.

  2. you're too cute to be a librarian. my elementary school librarian was huge and mean and grouchy. so, that's what i always imagine. you're so fresh and pretty and i'd say you look 18 at least. ha ha. 🙂

  3. You totally SHOULD write messages on the back and put them in a few teachers' boxes. Doitdoitdoit!

Also, our school pictures were always taken indoors and had boring gray backgrounds. But not plain gray, oh no. More like textured gray. Very classy.

  4. This is my first time commenting (I think), but I couldn't pass it up. I am teacher and get the 7 complimentary wallet pictures too. I immediately sent them to my family members who promptly put them on their refrigerators. I laugh every time I see them up there!

  5. Haha, I say this because I know it doesn't offend you – but when I saw the title of this post and then the picture, I thought you had posted an old one from high school 🙂

Which I'm sure you think it obnoxious, but man, that's gonna be awesome when you're the "cool, young-looking" mom, and the rest of us are sprouting gray hairs 🙂

  6. You do look maybe 17 but very cute. You bear no resemblance (sp) to any librarian I have ever known. And, the only teacher I ever had that came anywhere close to looking as young and cute as you was a student teacher in English when I was in the 10th grade. (Please don't grade me on my sentence structure.)

I know what you mean about wallet sized pictures – I have some from about 5 years ago. After all, who would want just a picture of me? Even my mom wanted a picture of the whole family. lol

Oh, wait! Bart needs one for his wallet.

  7. What a great school picture!! You will find something fun to do with them, like tying them on your holiday gifts!

  8. what a great picture! i would kill to look as young as you 🙂

i am sure that there are some kids with the "crush" on the librarian. how could they not! you are beautiful 🙂

  9. Don't fret. You'll always be 14 to me. If you are looking for a home for one of those (KIT!), our refrigerator would welcome one.

  10. Yes! When I was an aide a few years ago I got pictures too – kind of fun because it had been how many hundreds of years…? Dave didn't even ask for one for his desk or wallet – kind of hurt my feelings (and it was actually a good picture of me!). Most of them are still sitting in my "extra pictures" box under the bed. Yours in very pretty.

  11. That's so cute! I think you should have a contest and turn them into book plates with a giveway of some kind 🙂

  12. Haha, did you get an 8×10 too? I love getting those 8×10 school pictures of me at 23. This time I also fell for the whole "lean this way a litte" photographer's scheme to make everyone look ridiculous. My head is almost horizontal because she told me to lean so much. Oh well…

  13. I think you should send them to your parents so they can pass them out to your relatives. JUST LIKE OLD TIMES. OR, you could get one of those frames that has spots for your photo each year, and a big one in the center for your current year photo. AND, Bart can put that on his desk 😉

(it's been a long day, and I'm starting to get loopy)

  14. You could try freaking out some of the male teachers by putting a phone number on the back of your picture, too. "Does she really want me to call her? Or did she just give her number to everyone?"
