Spring Break

I rode my bike to and from work today (I know – you’re almost rabid with excitement over my “green” efforts; wait until I tell you about my recycling next week).

Actually, my bike riding is not because I want to save the environment all by my one-sie, but because Bart and I work two of the same days, and we only have one car. Also, my office is less than three miles from our house and it’s a converted duplex, so there’s a handy little backyard with a fence where I can chain up my bike.

And nothing will make you feel more justified in eating many cookies when you get home from work than having ridden a total of over five miles that day. And some of it was even uphill.

It was a bit chilly riding to work, but coming home was gorgeous beyond belief. It was about 70 degrees outside, I rode through a park full of cute children, I stopped by the library to drop off some books, I was listening to an audio book, and the whole afternoon stretched out before me to with what I wanted.

It turns out that what I wanted was a nice long nap. So I took one.

(Also. Does it seem completely wrong for the UT library to have recalled my library book and made it due over spring break when I clearly won’t be going to the library or even anywhere near campus? Inconsiderate, I think).

  1. First of all, that is more than inconsiderate to make a library due during Spring Break. It’s just dumb. Hmmph.
Second of all, today was the most perfect day ever. A bike ride would have been wonderful, but I didn’t do that. However, I did plant lots of flowers (well, hopefully going to be flowers) and trimmed some trees. I was outside for hours and it was gorgeous.

  2. We don’t make our students return books during breaks, because, well, that would be dumb. You are justified in saying “hmmph.”

  3. I’m picturing you on a bike like Minnie Driver rode in “Return to Me.” Is that how you looked? And I’m guessing you never return books late but I totally would just return it after the break because I’m obstinate.

  4. Hi! I am so glad that you found my blog! 🙂 It sounds likeyou had a really realxing afternoon…it makes me want to take a nap…a luxury you don’t often get with a baby around!
