Raiding My Sister’s Closet: Not Boots, Not Sandals

The weather is going nuts in North Carolina – it’ll be 80 degrees one day, then rainy and in the 30s the next day.
So, not quite time to whip out the sandals yet, but I am so done with my boots for the year.
Bring on the in-between shoes.
Here are two of my favorites right now. I like these outfits because they are pretty similar, both made up of blues, grays and blacks, with the same bag and shirt but they have quite different feels. One is pretty casual and sporty, while the other is more dressy.
First, this pair of Vans Bart bought me for Christmas (when I was putting together a list of gift ideas for him, I included this picture) and I’m getting a lot of wear out of them.
And not just because they are perfect for wearing to Duke Basketball games.
Shirt: Pickwick & Weller // Jeans: Aeropostale // Jacket: Kohl’s
Shoes: DSW // Bag: c/o Lily Jade // Necklace: Gift from my in-laws from their Antarctic cruise

Also, let’s talk about that leather jacket for a second. I ordered it from Kohl’s so I could get to the free shipping minimum, expecting to take it back and then. . .I loved it immediately.

I knew I was missing a good jacket in my closet, and this one is perfect.

Did I mention it was $16? (It’s on clearance for $20 and I had a 20% off coupon). Best $16 I ever did spend.

I feel like it is a really super nice faux leather (it’s not shiny or stiff at all), and the sleeves are nice and slim (baggy sleeves? One of my biggest pet peeves).

Wait, was this not a post about my new jacket? Whoops. Next pair of shoes. . . .

I bought this pair at Ross in the fall when I bought these shoes, and expected to wear the heels tons and the boots very little, but it turned out to be the opposite.

But now that it’s inching into spring, the patent leather seems a lot more appropriate and suddenly I’m finding all sorts of ways to wear them.

Plus, the heel height (and width) and strap mean they are really easy to wear, as far as heels go.

Shirt: Pickwick & Weller // Sweater: Old Navy // Jeans: Aeropostale
Shoes: Ross // Necklace: from Merrick // Bag: c/o Lily Jade

(P.S. For those of you who have asked about the Pickwick & Weller shirts, this one is an XS and it fits true to size. I’ve worn it about 15 times and washed it probably ten times, and it hasn’t pilled AT all. I wish they were paying me to say this, but I guess I’ll just have to say it for free. It really is the best t-shirt I’ve ever owned).
Check out Merrick and Landen‘s in-between shoes too, and we can all dream of sandals together (except Merrick, who is already wearing sandals in California).

  1. I love those heels! And I just picked up a pair of similar sneakers (yay Target clearance) so I'll be copying very soon.

What size did you get in that jacket? I've been looking for a leather one for a while and they're all so fake feeling… if you recommend this one I might snatch it up!
