A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, my friend Kristi said “You need to watch LOST.”
But I didn’t, of course.
Then, Kristi read some books that Ralphie and I told her to read. And she said “Now, you need to watch LOST.”
But I didn’t, of course.
Jennie sent me a book about LOST because she’s awesome like that. Did I read it and think “hmm, this show could be interesting.” Yes. Did I actually watch it?
Of course not.
And, then, I saw that my library had the first two seasons on DVD. So, I could watch them for free. I put in a request for them and they became available the day before we left for Christmas vacation. “We’ll watch them on the plane!” I told Bart. “We’ll be able to watch them in our spare time!”
But we didn’t, of course.
We came home and, one night, with nothing else to watch, we decided “Okay, we’ll watch them. But just so we can say we did.”
We watched the first episode.
Meh.
We figured we’d watch three before we gave up.
We’re on Season three now and I’m grudgingly admitting that Kristi (and my boss, and all the blogs I read and everyone else who told me LOST was an incredible TV show) was right. It is terrific in every way.
Seriously, people, this show is really really amazing. (And if you aren’t watching it already, I’m sure you’re just shaking your head right now, as I would have three months ago).
I’m sort of appalled by people who say they really only care about the island and what and why crazy things are happening. I am all about the characters. And LOST has some dang good characters. And a love triangle extraordinaire. What’s not to like? (Hint: nothing).
We’re on Season three right now (watching it online; thanks, Housewife) and I’m dying to move on to the current season. If one more blog that I read says something like “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe how last night’s episode ended!” I’m going to die.
And if Sawyer is the one in the coffin, I’m really going to die. Even with his long, stringy hair, I totally love him.

I noticed your comment on Randi’s blog. She is my daughter’s sister-in-law. Anyway, I was just struck by all of these little odd things. We live in Vegas. I have a son and his family who live in Pflugerville, just outside Austin, he works for Dell. They just spent a whole year focusing on Thai food. If you like Thai, you should get with them. I even read Notes from the Trenches regularly.

It’s is important to watch LOST, if for nothing else, because of the social unity it creates.
I like you THAT much more because I know that you also enjoy the best show in the planet.
social unity.

Thanks for the reminder. I finally gave into the idea of trying Lost not too long ago, but after your blog I have finally put it on my Netflix queue. Maybe I should check the library.

I love LOST and I am so glad that you do to. When I talked to you that time and you had seen one episode and thought “meh” I was so sad because I felt silly for recommending it so strongly, phewwww. I hope you do catch up so we can have LOST parties when the new episodes come out. Oh, and also if you are interested what Sawyer’s nickname is for you, by all means go find out…

I am she of the head shaking. I think watching a few partial episodes here and there has really ruined it for me. Not the kind of show you can just pick up in the middle of it. Perhaps someday when I get through my current Netflix queue I’ll add this on (READ: when my kids go away to college)

Even with all of the talk about LOST, I have not seen it either. I plan to rectify that this year. My cousin even married the actress that plays Juliet, so it is definitely not something I can just skip. Thanks for the tip on the library. I will have to check if it is available at our local branch.

I will watch Lost when Lost ends, as I should’ve done with Harry Potter.

Yeah Lost! I’m glad you’re on board–like Bethany said: social unity.

I was totally hooked the first season, then for some reason I fell away sometime during the 2nd (had something else that night or something.) Never really went back. But I’m working through another TV series now through netflix, but afterwards plan to go back and start at the beginning of Lost again and see what I’ve missed. Ashley has been watching it the last few months and has loved it.

I am totally you three months ago. Maybe someday I’ll progress to the point where you are now. Somehow I doubt it, though.

WOO HOO!! Another “LOST” fan!! I seriously think it’s the best show ever made! I can’t handle it, i literally keep looking at the clock counting the hours until the new episode starts tonight. I am SO happy you like it!

Like you, my husband and I put off becoming Lost fans. We watched the first couple of episodes and felt they were meh (like you said) and have left off watching any more episodes. Maybe we shoudl get back on the bandwagon.

OK, so LOST last night was just crazy. Just when you THINK you have an idea what’s going on…………

I’m sure you know by now, but I WANT TO MAKE OUT WITH LOST!
I love it!
So what’s this Lost book you speak of??? Do tell!

GREAT! Thanks a LOT Janssen. Geez I thought we were friends. Sawyer? Coffin? GAH!? I just BARELY found out that Sun is pregnant for crying out loud.
Tyler and I are still in season 2 and we get it via netflix so we only get one DVD at a time (4 episodes per dvd). We are sooooo far behind, but are trying to not let it overrun our lives. We knew we were watching too much, too fast, when I started having dreams that I was on the island and Jack had to rescue me and take me to Chile.
It really is an amazing show though. 🙂

Thanks for the heads-up about the free online episodes. I downloaded the HD viewer through the ABC website and I couldn’t believe the picture quality I was getting on my laptop! And since I’m not going through NetFlix, I can just keep watching episode after episode after episode … My eyes are getting red from too much viewing as I catch up!

I am a LOST junkie too!I love it!!!! I didn’t start watching until just before Season 3 started. Like you, I started with a box set and before Disc 1 was over, I was hooked! And just when I think they are starting to tie up some loose ends the writers throw me a curve ball……..oh why can’t EVERY night be Thursday???
Ashley says
LOVE IT! I always wanted to watch it but never got around to it. I am finally caught up to the regular season…..um, yup LOVE IT!
