Almost two years ago, desperate for a haircut, I stopped in at the local Great Clips and walked out with a haircut I loved. It was glorious.
I found out the name of the woman who’d cut my hair and when she worked and returned again and again, always leaving with a hair cut I was happy with.
Two months ago, I got what was likely the best haircut of my life. It was one of those cuts that looked good every single day; I felt like I could wear anything and my hair would make it look awesome. (And, I’d had a coupon, so my haircut was FREE, and then I gave her a $4 tip).
And then, about ten days ago, I got it cut again (by the same lady) and I forgot to tell her I was still working on Project Long Hair and she cut it short. It wasn’t way short but it was definitely nothing like the Haircut of Glory that I’d come in with. It wasn’t the worst haircut of my life, but it was such a downgrade from the previous cut that I wanted to die.
I told Bart at least fifteen times over the next few days how much I hated my hair. I couldn’t even write about it because I was so unhappy about it. I must have cried over it at least four times (I know, I’m so pathetic, and I didn’t even care).
But finally, yesterday, it started to look a bit better. Today’s been another decent day. I’m hopeful that someday soon, my hair will once again take on Hair of Glory status. Until then, this blog will have no pictures.

I have THE MOST perfect blog for you to read, but its on my friends private blog….I HATE private blogs. So instead of sending you the link that will do you no good I’ll just tell you….you aren’t the only one, and crying is totally allowed over bad haircuts!

Oh I’m so very sorry…truly! That is just awful. But like everyone said (and I know it doesn’t really make you feel better at this point) it’s gonna grow. It really will! And regular trims helps too — 1/4″, nothing more than that trims, I mean!!! Hang in there…you’re still beautiful!

hmmm- you want to know something funny. My mom is the only person who has ever cut my hair. Even during college I once went for over Six months w/o a trim b/c I could not imagine anyone else cutting my hair. My mom told me to just go get it trimmed – but I waited.
I do not know what I am going to do when I don’t live close to mom — b/c honestly the thought of someon else cutting my precious hair – is way to nerve racking.

I think you officially fall into the category of People With Great Hair. Every picture that I have seen of you proves this. So I am sure that this recent cut is no exception. But! I know it sucks to not like your hair cut, so I hope that it grows out fast so that you love it again.

the best haircut I ever had was when I was in poland, and the woman barely spoke english. my polish was okay at best. seriously, she was amazing. I miss beata!

Janssen, at least you don’t have to worry about bad eyebrow days like I do. After about a month of not getting a haircut, now and then I’ll walk by a mirror during the day and one or both of my eyebrows will be akimbo. Very annoying. Furthermore, the hair on top of my ears and in my ears also grow out of control. So, as you see, things could be worse.

I recently had a similar experience. I did specifically tell the lady I was growing out my hair, and she proceeded to chop it off above my ears anyway. I literally stopped her in the middle of the haircut and walked out because it was just getting worse.
I cried about that one for days.

Now I’m way curious to see this haircut!!!! Come on…share! I think every girl out there has had a similar experience. I still cringe when I think of my 5th grade pictures. I still blame my Mom for that catastrophe. I had no clue. Just remember…hair grows!
