2025 Summer Reading Guide: Page Turning Novels
These are the titles that are so compulsively readable, you’ll stay up way too late reading (good thing there is no school tomorrow!) or maybe even hope your roadtrip lasts just a bit longer.

The Mostly True Story of Tanner and Louise by Colleen Oakley
Tanner, a young 21-year-old college dropout, needs a job and a place to live. Louise, a sharp witted 84-year-old, needs a full-time caregiver after a fall. As if the stars aligned, Tanner gets a job and Louise gets a caretaker. This unlikely duo is content to ignore each other until Tanner starts to feel like Louise is hiding something and gets sucked into the road trip of the century. This was totally fun!

Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister
This was my first book by her and I am definitely planning to read more! Camilla is ready to return to work after maternity leave, but on the morning she’s headed back to her job, she wakes up to find her husband gone with a cryptic note left behind. Moments later, the news breaks: there’s a hostage situation in London… and he’s the gunman. This one is full of twists and secrets and I loved watching it play out.

Nightwatching by Tracy Sierra
This book was wild. I almost gave up after the first few pages because it was so creepy, but once I started, I couldn’t stop (I mainly needed to finish it in broad daylight!). A mom, home alone with her kids during a blizzard, wakes up to find someone in the house. She hides the kids and faces the terrifying choice of staying hidden or risking everything to go get help. I’m still thinking about this one months after I finished it.

The Matchmaker by Aisha Saeed
This one was so much fun – I love a romance and mystery in one! Weddings are Nura Khan’s business – until someone starts sabotaging them, turning her dream job into a nightmare. With her fake fiancé (who might not be so fake), she sets out to catch the culprit before her career, and her family’s safety, go up in flames.
