2025 Summer Reading Guide: Terrific Non-Fiction
I love non-fiction but I still want it to be just as engaging as any novel. These will do just that!

Meditation for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman
I loved this witty, wise guide to embracing life as it is (no matter how messy and imperfect it may be)! If you’re craving meaningful change without the hustle culture guilt trip, this one’s for you. I think I will be buying my own copy of this to have on hand – I could have marked up every page. It’s also designed to be read one chapter a day and each chapter is only 2-3 pages long so it’s very doable!

The Many Lives of Mama Love by Lara Love Hardin
As soon as I saw the premise of this book, I was in! It’s about a suburban housewife who is funding her heroin use by stealing credit cards from her neighbors. She seems to be holding it together until she’s convicted of 32 felonies and finds herself in prison. Post prison? She becomes a ghostwriter! (The audio is read by the author herself – highly recommend!)

Never Enough by Jennifer Breheny Wallace
This is one of the most eye-opening parenting books I’ve read—it digs into how achievement culture is affecting our kids and what they really need instead to feel like they matter. The mix of research, real-life stories, and practical tips had me constantly pausing to read huge chunks aloud to my husband (and even in one case handing him the book to read a whole chapter!). It’s a must-read for anyone raising or working with kids in today’s achievement driven world, plus it is really readable.

American Wolf by Nate Blakeslee
O-Six is the alpha female in a pack of wolves living in Yellowstone National Park and this is her story – which also includes the wolf reclamation project. All viewpoints of this heated topic are presented including the ranchers, the hunters, and those that love wolves. This was such a wild ride about something I knew zero about and I couldn’t stop telling everyone I knew about the cool things I was learning.
