The Coretta Scott King Award is “given annually to outstanding African American authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults that demonstrate an appreciation of African American culture and universal human values.”
One thing that’s unique about the Coretta Scott King Award is that there is both an illustrator award and an author award.
Free Period Press designed these free printable checklists for the past 20 years of winners (one for authors and one for illustrators!) – it’s a fun way to work through the winners and keep track of which ones you’ve read and which ones you still need to read!
They’re available for free here!
