I could play it cool and be all, “Just a little Valentine’s card I whipped up,” but playing it cool has never been my strong suit.
So, just know I’m feeling ridiculously happy with how well these mini Valentine’s Day chalkboards turned out and what minimal effort they took.
Plus they don’t include candy, but they’re still super kid-friendly.
And, did I mention cheap? Seriously, the trifecta of Valentine’s Day cards for me: inexpensive, easy, and candy-free.
To make this Valentine mini chalkboard, you’ll need:
- Boxes of chalk
- Chalkboard Paint
- Painters Tape
- A paintbrush
Instructions for making Mini Chalkboard Valentine Cards
- Tape around the edges of your box, so you have a nice frame (make sure to cover the hole that the boxes hang from – I didn’t on the first box and the paint dripped through and made ugly dribbles on the front. Avoid that). Press it down firmly so your paint won’t bleed through.
- Paint an even coat. Let it dry briefly, then paint a second coat.
- Let the mini chalkboard dry completely, then remove the tape, write a little message on the back with chalk (or you can fasten a tag through the top hanger hole with a message like “Let’s chalk about love” or something equally cheesy awesome), and pass around to all your friends.
- Or your child’s friends.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

I love these! I might have to make these for my daughter's preschool class. My son need something with licensed characters all over it, of course.
