This weekend shall be known from here on out as the weekend of the $1.99 skirt.
It started innocently enough, when Bart went out to D.C. for an interview. But then, he made the novice mistake of extending his trip by a day and a half to visit a high school friend who lives outside of D.C.
Leaving me alone for many evenings in a row, with homework that had to be avoided.
Needless to say, I went to Old Navy. Three times.
The first night, Thursday, I discovered that a skirt I had nearly bought a few weeks before was hanging on the rack with a price tag declaring it $1.99. Yes, less than two dollars. In my very own favorite size.
I bought it.
Then, on Saturday, I ventured out to another Old Navy which I’d heard had a terrific clearance section, but I had never visited before.
And there, on the racks, were two denim pencil skirts, one in white and one in very very dark blue. Each for $1.99. Both in my size.
Obviously, you cannot walk away from that sort of deal.
I did not.
And Bart has learned that he probably ought not to leave me home alone for entire weekends at a time. Although, he spent more on his airport meal than I did on two new skirts, so he can’t exactly complain.

I bet there’s a lot more selection on the clearance rack in a size 0. Seems like that’s all I ever find when I’m searching for my double digit size 🙂

I think you’ve inspired me to go to old navy. which ones did you go to?
Becca says
I don’t know whether to hate you because you have THREE $1.99 skirts or because you’re a size 0.
you are cute.

Great deals! I’d be off to Old Navy this instant… but the place gives me hives (too much disorder, too many pushy people!). So I’ll just live vicariously through your bargains!

That is truly amazing! I love Old Navy!

That is some serious bargain shopping. It is a rare occasion when physically possible to leave a 1.99 item (in your exact size) on the rack. Congratulations. I’d skip lunch out any day for the same deal.

My Old Navy never has deals that good! I DO need to stop in and get a jacket though, perhaps a trip is in order.
That is a super cute skirt too. I have on a skirt today and it makes me wish I wore them more often.

if you move up here, we must become friends….and I’m trying to ignore that you’re a size 0

You must have known the comments that would come in as soon as you typed “0” but really anyone who has seen you shouldn’t be totally shocked.
That being said I’m insanely jealous of the deals you found. It seems that unless you’re a sz 0 or sz 18 those deals don’t exist!
Melanie says
I agree with the other commenters, not only do you get the benefit of being a size 0 and not having to worry about your weight, you always have a great selection in the clearance racks too! I’m an average size category, so the sizes I want are almost never available on clearance. (And I like eating too much to get myself down to a smaller size, so I guess I’ll just spend my money on lunch at Panera.) Congratulations on the great deals though.

i love great deals like that! hope to see pictures of them!

Way to go! Feel NO guilt 🙂

Old Navy clothes do not fit us short curvy people. My daughter just did a shopping trip and was completely irritated after trying on clothes at Old Navy and Maurices.
Then there is my poor mom, who is 4’10” and weighs maybe 95 pounds, who has a horrible time finding appropriate clothes to fit. Hannah Montana or Barbie-pink clothes just don’t cut it.
Size 0 or even a little larger is cool when you are young, so enjoy it now. lol Congrats on the wonderful bargains.
Oh, it gets very cold in Boston and Washington DC in the winter time. It snows, too. Mean, aren’t I? 😉

P.S. I hope I didn’t offend you. in the above post. It was supposed to be funny.

I love Old Navy sales…I found good deals there too! Except…the only store that wasn’t in complete choas was the big huge one they just opened at Town Square in Vegas. All other Old Navy’s are disastorous!

So, I saw you in that $1.99 skirt on Sunday, and it looked like a million bucks! Great deals!

I *adore* Old Navy. My store had those $1.99 deals a few weeks ago too and I cleaned up! Love it!! And wait, Bart was in DC for an interview? As in the District of Columbia? Does that mean we could be neighbors soon? 🙂
