Etc Tell Me What to Read

What I’m Going to Read: Round 16

November 4, 2010

A winner! A winner! We have a winner! Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghes, which has been suggested approximately two million times, this time by Melanie and Becca. (Melanie’s was the winning suggestion, should you care about such details).

The downside is that this book is quite popular. And by “popular,” I mean “I am number 71 in line at the Austin Public Library.”

This is what Ella thinks of being 71st in line:

The plus side is that my local library only has two people in front of me, so it’s somewhat possible that I’ll get to this book before the end of the month. Cross your fingers for me.

Other fine suggestions which have me running to the request page of my library:

Of these, I’ve read:

Umm, would it be totally stalkery if I made the Ella picture du jour my desktop wallpaper? Because, seriously. THAT FACE!

This has been on my list for a while. Somehow it always gets moved down on my TBR list – it's so long!

You haven't read Forest Born?!?! Really, you must get on this one even if it didn't win this month's round of "tell me what to read." I loved it oh so much more than Enna Burning or River Secrets (both of which I love, of course). It might be tied with Goose Girl. But maybe I liked it even more. Not sure. Anyhow, this one is urgent.

That is the cutest picture. Hope you get the book soon.

Cutest picture of a baby in the history of ever.

Also, if you don't like the book, the author thinks you should decline to review it.

PS: Just re-scanned the book list. You haven't read A Child's Garden of Verses? Oh dear. You can easily and happily remedy that by reading out loud to your little cutie.

I'm so glad to hear this!! 🙂 Yay. Hey I have an extra copy, like a publisher's version of it (so there is no pretty cover) – I can send it to you. Would you be interested?
