Raiding My Sister’s Closet: Dress It Up, Dress it Down

September 9, 2014

When I dress something up and down, I want it to require as few changes as possible to go from casual to dressy (this may have something to do with the fact that I have basically 10 things in my suitcase to last me the next 13 weeks).

This week for Raiding My Sister’s Closet, I went with a basic jersey dress and a denim jacket, which is endlessly adaptable for that in-between time of September when it’s sometimes cool and sometimes roasting hot.

(Actually, I had plans to do a different outfit, but then we rode a bus in Kiev that was SO hot and I was holding a snoozing Ani on my chest which meant by the time we got off the bus, my shirt was so soaked, it was not suitable for any sort of photographing. It was barely decent for walking the rest of the way home).

Here it is with a ponytail, bright bag, and white sneakers to go casual.

Dress: Kiki La Rue (hand-me-down from Merrick) Jacket: Old Navy
Sneakers: Kohl’s // Bag: c/o Lily Jade // Necklace: Bip & Bop

A quick change of shoes, some bangles, and a scarf. Also, lose the ponytail and, ta-da, nice enough for dinner out.

Assuming we ever get the chance to go to dinner somewhere nice without our children in London.

Scarf: Charlotte Russe (gift from Merrick) // Wedges: Payless Shoe Source
Bangles: c/o Wrenn Jewelry

Traveling (with kids especially) really can do a number on an outfit. This one is adorable…so I'm glad it worked out this way! 🙂
