Doing the Right Thing

November 19, 2007

On Friday, I sat at my desk at work and had a revelation:

“If I am sitting at this desk next Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, instead of being home with Bart, putting up the Christmas decorations and listening to Josh Groban’s new CD, I will be beyond depressed.”

And so I filled out the vacation request form (for my very last alloted day of the year) and placed it on my boss’ desk.

I am so so glad I did. The Fourth of July was on a Wednesday this year (public service announcement!) and I loathed having to go back to work the next day. It’s almost worse to have a single day off in the middle of the week than just work straight through. Am I right? (I so am).

I was already looking forward to Thanksgiving, but now I am almost uncontrollably excited for this long, fun weekend.

Now if only Josh Groban’s CD will arrive BEFORE next Saturday.

does this mean you don’t get time off for Christmas?

If you only had one day left for the year, I think that was the best possible way to use it. Are you guaranteed to have your request granted? Enjoy your weekend!

I agree. Thanksgiving should always include the Friday after–how can anyone want to go back to work?

I also have Josh Groban’s Christmas CD. I would love your super honest opion of it. Enough said for now.

We had our first real snow last night. It is beautiful, but the roads are so slick that we would have had to chain up to get to work today. Soooo, we called and said we wouldn’t be there. (In case you’re wondering – we’re always there – it is somebody else’s turn today.)

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and weekend.

Could you let me/us know what you think about the Josh Groban CD? I have heard mixed reactions and now I’m hesitant to buy it without hearing it first.

Alas, I have no hope of a day off on Black Friday, which is increasingly depressing as the day draws nearer. I will live vicariously through your day off. Sigh.

AFter several years of not having the day after Thanksgiving off, I requested it off too! I’m excited for some Black Friday shopping with my hubby 🙂

Oh gosh I am so obsessed with Josh Groban’s music. He is totally my Christmas inspiration go-to guy. Actually, he’s my year-round-good-feelings guy.

Have fun on your day off! Enjoy Josh’s Christmas album, I personally love it. It will be our soundtrack as put up our decorations on Friday too.

I think I worked July 4 so I could take that extra vacation day and apply it to a long weekend. It’s absolutely worth it rather than taking one day off in the middle of the week. Agreed.

Have a great long weekend and Happy Mashed Potatoes Day!
